Terri From Scratch all started with a charity bake sale.
I’m a stay-at-home mom three daughters ranging in age from 12-20 and am married to the man I fell in love with 23 years ago. I have a LOT of passions but ONE of my greatest is cooking and baking. I’m a firm believer that we only get one shot at life; we’d better make the most of it and give it all we’ve got.
Last summer I discovered two incredible charities that combined children and baking. Right up my alley!
Cookies for Kids
The foundation has team and individual volunteers that hold bake sales in their community. The profits raised are sent to the foundation to help fund pediatric cancer research.

Cakes 4 Kids
This organization works with volunteers like myself who provide birthday cakes and other treats to foster children or children at risk that would otherwise not receive a birthday cake or celebration.
Once, I took my youngest daughter, Holly, with me to deliver a birthday cake to a child for cake4kids.org.
Now let me be clear here: I’m a crier.
I cry over EVERYTHING. Puppies, kitties, babies, weddings, commercials…you name it, my tear ducts always work overtime.
When Holly and I showed up with the cake for the child, the hugs and gratitude we received, the expressions of joy and happiness for something as small as a homemade cake were overwhelming.
Somehow, I managed to keep it together. By the time we got to the car, I was having trouble holding back the tears. Knowing her mom, Holly saw the floodgates about to burst, handed me a tissue and said, “Here you go”. I guess though, not being affected would be worse.

The Fateful Bake Sale
Being the baker I am combined with my desire to help children, I began fervently baking cakes and cookies for both organizations.
I decided to do a bake sale in June 2012 for the cookies4kidscancer foundation. I rallied my daughters, husband and some friends to help with the baking, selling, and wrapping. We earned a whopping $980.00!
Wow! What an awesome feeling to be able to make such a contribution.
But during the sale, a few customers asked, “How can I order more cookies from you”?
I’d NEVER even thought of that!
What a fabulous idea!
And that is how Terri From Scratch was born.
I will continue to support www.cookiesforkidscancer.org as well as www.cake4kids.org. Not only are these organizations making a difference every day to children and families, they brought me to my new beginning of Terri From Scratch.
I hope that you will give my treats a try.
